The Dugger Family Finally Comes to Visit...

We've lived in Liberty for 5 years now and this is the first time Kendall's sister Carla has come to visit! Okay, its actually the second time Carla has come to Missouri, the first time being our wedding. It is the very first time the family, still waiting for Uncle Keith, has come to Liberty, Missouri. Keep in mind they do live in Florida, so I would probably rather stay there then frequent Missouri too:) We were just thrilled to have Carla, Lance, Nathan, and Alex come visit us. Their motivation for finally coming to visit being that now Grandpa and Grandma Walker also live in Liberty, Missouri!
Cousin Alex was a big hit with Ashlyn and Preston, since he was the only one with enough energy to play with them all day everyday. It's always fun when family comes to town, its a non-stop party always going and doing everything fun around town. There is also good food as every meal is another family favorite to enjoy together again. It's a special occasion when you get Grandma Walker to make Fluetes and Fried Pies!

We had a lot of fun doing some of the boys favorite things. They are really interested in space, so Kendall found out we could go to UMKC and see the stars through their mega telescopes. It was exciting for everyone, a first for Ashlyn and Preston to climb out on the roof of a huge building and look into these massive telescopes to see the stars and even some planets. The boys were having so much fun, I took the little ones home and Kendall stayed with them into the night looking through telescopes.
As anyone who has visited us knows, a trip to the Walker's is not complete without a trip to the cave! There is a store, Overstock Freight, nearby that is located inside this cave. It's actually an entire Industrial Park located underground; however, this bargain store happens to be the only thing inside the cave that is open to the public. There are some good deals, different products every time (which is why you have to go back and visit so often :) but the highlight for visitors is simply going inside the cave to the store. You just drive your car way back into this cave, where there are many roads and other stores along the way. I don't know that anyone even bought anything, but its still fun to go!
Kendall went with everyone through the Steamboat Arabia Museum, I opted to sit this one out to spare having to pay the admission price just for the hassle of entertaining, while containing Ashlyn and Preston inside a museum, so we went shopping instead! I've also been a couple of times before and it is very interesting how this family relocated the Steamboat Arabia which had sunken in the Missouri River years before, and dug it up to find thousands of artifacts, so many that they are still restoring them today.
I was however the fortunate one who took the Dugger family to the Harry S. Truman Library, somewhere I had never been in the five years I lived here! It's sad that you have all these exciting things to see and discover within miles of your home, but you don't ever enjoy them until someone else comes along. The Truman Library was very interesting, believe it or not this is exactly what Lance, Nathan and Alex really get into. I will have to go back again though to truly enjoy it, since I did have to take Ashlyn and Preston this time and they were only "into" it for the first 30 minutes. The Duggers stayed though and said they really enjoyed it. Hopefully they enjoyed their visit enough that they will come back again, at least in another 5 years:)
