Easter Morning 2011
Garrett's first Easter and so far he's loving it! Of course his basket was the easiest to find, but he wasn't sure what to do with it! Waking up to a basket full of toys and treats is a great way to start the day! There is only so much is two little teeth can eat, but since this marshmallow baseball is more sugar
then he's ever had it ought to be sufficient:)
Preston and Garrett were the first ones awake, which is no surprise since they are always the early risers in the Walker Family! Preston was a little anxious trying to find his basket because the Easter Bunny hiding places get harder and harder every year older! Since Garrett's basket was easy to find, Preston started to worry that he couldn't find his quick enough. Once Preston found his basket he immediately saw something that "shoots", even though he had no idea what or how to "shoot" it, he knew right away it's potential for shooting. I love this picture as he demonstrates how to shoot the water blaster
and is apparently making sound effects!
Surprisingly Ashlyn was the last to wake up, being the oldest she has learned the real excitement of holidays and can hardly sleep the night before in anticipation. She even told us she would be up early the next morning to see what the Easter Bunny brought. Unfortunately she slept in and almost missed the whole event. In this picture she is checking out all her goodies, the first thing she always does! Ashlyn usually lays it all out so she can get a good look at everything she's got and make sure she doesn't miss anything in the basket!
This is their first experience with a pinwheel, I love how they're both working together to get enough air to make it spin. I guess in order to blow you've got to close your eyes to get the most air:)
The tradition of Easter is always a new dress, but what about the boys! I really wanted to dress them in matching suits, but since I didn't decide that until the week of Easter the stores had slim pickings. They still look so handsome all dressed up for Easter! Ashlyn's got her new Easter dress on that mommy picked out, apparently she is old enough to have a strong opinion about what she'll wear. I loved this little pink and black dress, but she wanted something else, they were such a deal we just bought two dresses as long as she promised to wear this one for Easter!
Every year holidays get more and more exciting, this year Ashlyn wanted to leave a note and cookies for the Easter bunny, similar to what she did for Santa. We decided bunnies liked carrots better, so she left and note and a bowl full of carrots. This picture is Easter morning as she checks it all out to make sure the Easter bunny ate the carrots!
I had to include this picture because it shows how excited Preston is about everything, he just loves whatever it is the Easter Bunny brought him even if he's not entirely sure what it is!
We love the Easter holiday and especially enjoy sharing it as a family. Every year I try to incorporate more and more activities that remind us the true meaning of Easter. As the kids get older they express more about what they are learning and how well they understand it. This year Ashlyn could tell us the Easter story and why we celebrate this special day, it just melts my heart to know they're listening!
